CoActiv PACS4VETS® Mobile Makes Advanced PACS Possible for Every Animal Health Practice

CHICAGO --(Business Wire)--

Offering small veterinarian practices an innovative and practical solution, CoActiv Medical (RSNA Booth # 7303) introduces PACS4VETS Mobile, a complete turnkey, portable PACS optimized for veterinarian practices. The traditional PACS price point and need for multiple workstations has long kept many smaller veterinarian practices from taking advantage of digital imaging. With a price point of about $5,000, now, PACS4VETS Mobile makes advanced PACS technology appropriate for even single physician practices with a low image volume.

New PACS4VETS Mobile combines CoActiv's world-class PACS veterinary application with all required hardware including a Dell (News - Alert) business class laptop for a truly turnkey, plug-and-play solution. It is designed for practices of one to three veterinarians with a limited number of exam rooms and basic modalities such as x-ray and ultrasound. Larger practices can take advantage of CoActiv's standard PACS4VETS, which is a robust, reasonably priced application meeting a full range of PACS needs.

PACS4VETS Mobile automatically archives all images to the laptop hard drive. Users connect to the modality using a network plug-in or wireless connection. The system is geared for practices that offer x-ray and perhaps ultrasound. It offers a streamlined upgrade path to the full PACS4VETS.

"The technology's mobile format is of special value for vets, who often practice in the field when treating equine cases," says Ed Heere, president and CEO of CoActiv. "Additionally, it can easily be moved from exam room to exam room and taken into the waiting room for consultation with pet owners."

CoActiv PACS4VETS software was created by the team that developed and markets the nationally recognized CoActiv EXAM-PACS®/sup> digital imaging applications for the human radiology market. For more than nine years, EXAM-PACS solutions have been used by hundreds of hospitals and imaging centers nationwide.

The veterinary application combines the most advanced human PACS technology with a full range of specialized features to support veterinary clinical applications and workflow. The advanced Web-based solution is backed by a 100 percent up-time archiving service level agreement (SLA) to ensure that an animal's full history of prior digital exams will be available immediately on demand for comparison viewing.

"Every veterinarian deserves the same high-quality digital image management solution for their animals as hospitals and imaging centers enjoy for human patients," said Heere. "Now, with PACS4VETS Mobile, this is available for every practice."

PACS4VETS Mobile is a hardware/software bundled solution including a business class laptop computer with 0.5TB storage and CoActiv PACS4VETS DICOM image management application with diagnostic viewing and clinical review for veterinary medicine. Full CoActiv installation, training and support also are included.
