Retailers Leverage New Social Gifting Application Jifiti to Engage Users In-Store

Columbus, OH, Dec 13, 2012 ( via COMTEX) -- Digital engagement isn't just happening through social media for retailers. Jifiti, a new smartphone app, is integrated into the in-store shopping experience through technology like barcode scanning and giftcard redemption. It's a huge hit in just its 1st few weeks after launch, and is being used at renowned retailers like Gap, Sears and Gamestop. The experience Jifiti offers plays at consumer wants, and the ability to be immediately actionable on those desires.

Even with the rapid growth of online retailers, the majority of retail customers would like to shop in-person. Six in Ten Americans prefer shopping in-store to buying online (i) and even Amazon is testing pick-up lockers that get products into hands faster, by curbing missed deliveries (ii).

"It was awesome," said Norman Jalbert - a shopper at Burlington Mall, a Simon Mall in Burlington MA. "I saw the signage in the mall about Jifiti and decided to scan some gifts for my birthday at Gap and Gamestop. I didn't need much and figured it would be a good way to make sure my family got me what I really wanted. Before we had even left the mall, I received a notification that my sister had already purchased Black Ops 2 from my list, so we swung back around and picked it up!" HOW DOES THE APP WORK 1. While at retail locations, shoppers scan and share products that are instantly added to a custom wishlist.

2. Family and friends purchase gifts or chip-in for the items that are on the lists.

3. Shoppers receive an in-app notification with a giftcard number which they use when checking out with the gift.

ABOUT JIFITI: Jifiti is the first in-store gifting platform that fully integrates with retailers and their giftcard programs.
