Tvigle Becomes First Online Broadcaster on PS3 in Russia

MOSCOW --(Business Wire)--

Tvigle has launched its app for Sony PlayStation 3, bringing Russia's biggest library of free-to-view licenced video content to more than 1.2 million PS3 consoles in Europe's largest online video market.

PS3 owners can now watch the whole Tvigle library of more than 20,000 films and TV shows, including global hits such as "The Walking Dead," "Misfits," "Skins," and "Luther."

"We are proud to be the only online broadcaster in Russia on PS3," said Egor Yakovlev, Tvigle's founder and CEO. "Connected devices are growing at an explosive rate in Russia, and tapping into this segment represents an important part of our strategy to grow this market further."

"It is important for us to launch a video service for Russian gamers," said Sergey Klisho, General Manager PlayStatin Russia and CIS. PS3 is the most popular gaming system in Russia, with a range and depth of content that is constantly expanding.

Previously YouTube (News - Alert) was the only video service available on PS3 in Russia, which is emerging as one of the world's most important online video markets. According to comScore (News - Alert) there were 60 million monthly viewers in Russia as of July 2013, making the country Europe's biggest market by unique video viewers and second by monthly number of views.

Tvigle and Sony announced their partnership at the Igromir exhibition in Moscow in September 2013.
