Next question -- Nicole Conner [The Wenatchee World, Wash. :: ]

(Wenatchee World, The (WA) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Feb. 15--The Wenatchee Valley Business World's "30 Under 35" honors young community leaders. We tap the thoughts of the 2013 honorees in this Sunday interview series.

Nicole Conner, 30, owner, Nicole Conner Photography Conner left her career in retail management in 2012 to start her own photography business, a risky move that required faith, confidence and skill. In a short time, she has developed a loyal client base that appreciates her upbeat personality, artistic vision and commitment to excellence.

"For a young woman and mother to take on entrepreneurship with confidence and success is not only outstanding, but a true inspiration for young women everywhere to follow their dreams," her nominating letter said.

Q. Were you one of those kids who lurked with a camera to grab photos of family and friends? If not, when did you first develop an interest in photography? What inspired you? A. I always had a camera on me everywhere I went. Some of my favorite images are from my $5 disposable camera. I was constantly taking pictures of my friends, no matter where we went. I have always loved photography -- in high school I job-shadowed at Miller's Camera in downtown Wenatchee. I learned to develop color and black and white film and loved it! Q. It seems that digital photography has spawned a lot of new photo studios. What makes your photographic vision and services different from others in the Wenatchee Valley? A. It takes hard work, dedication and knowing why you do what you do to be successful. My "why" is simply to inspire others to follow their dreams. My photographic style is light, airy, sunlit and ethereal.

Q. What's your favorite photographic subject, and why? A. My favorite subjects are high school seniors. They're influential, inspiring, creative and moving. They have the whole world in front of them! Their energy and enthusiasm for life is contagious, and I love to capture that.

Q. Fantasy time: Ten years from now (2024), how have you contributed to the Wenatchee Valley's social, educational or business communities? A. I would love to spend more time mentoring youth on doing what they love to do and making a career out of their passion.
