Leading consumer electronics brand strengthening retail footprint [Khaleej Times (United Arab Emirates)]

(Khaleej Times (United Arab Emirates) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Elekta, a leader in consumer electronics and home appliances, is strengthening its retail footprint by launching a shop-in-shop outlet at Costless, part of the Abu Dhabi Cooperative Society.

For Elekta, a Dh1 billion annual turnover conglomerate with footprints in 70 countries, the move is expected to bring the company closer to its customer base who benefit from more than 500 types of household appliances and electronics products.

"Opening of our third shop-in-shop will take us closer to our customers — our key stakeholders — and help us understand their needs," Rajan Mathrani, managing director of Elekta Gulf, the global headquarters of the famous Japanese electronics giant.

"As the UAE market for consumer electronics and household appliances grow in line with the UAE economy, we see increased demand for innovative products. This is also a good time to come closer to our valued customers and get to know of their choice and preference. The new store will help us understand the market needs better." Over the last few years, consumer electronics have seen phenomenal growth in UAE. The demand for personal computers, LCD TV sets, digital cameras and smartphones have seen remarkable growth. The result has been a boon for consumer electronics manufacturers as well as renewed growth for the industry.

The UAE's consumer electronics market is one of the largest in the Gulf and according to some estimates accounts for 40 per cent of regional spending. According to the Business Monitor International (BMI), the UAE's consumer electronics devices market, defined as a market for computing devices, audio, video, mobile handsets and gaming products, is projected to grow by 26 per cent from the estimated sale value of $3.4 billion in 2011 to $4.3 billion by 2015.

In a recent report, Euromonitor said, strength in underlying macroeconomic factors as well as increasing tourism flows will continue to fuel growth in demand for consumer electronics in the UAE in 2014 and beyond. "The rising importance of the tourist shopper in driving volume sales growth means that growth rates in categories like tablets and smartphones, which are popular with tourist shoppers, will continue to outpace growth in categories like televisions and home audio and cinema which are more reliant on domestic demand," Euromonitor said.

Elekta products are designed and developed in the company's main research centre in Osaka, Japan in accordance with the highest international standards, and are manufactured in the company's factories in China, Thailand, India and Malaysia. "In this event, we are also launching a series of new products that will help change the lifestyles of millions of people across the world," Mathrani said.

Elekta has recently introduced a new stylish Platinum Series to its collection of small domestic appliances. The Platinum Series offers to coffee and tea lovers a modern stainless steel coffee maker and kettles.

The Platinum Series is a contemporary, stainless steel collection of a coffee maker and three kettles for modern homes.
