MLAs cite TOI reports about web hacking [Lucknow] [Times of India]

(Times of India Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) LUCKNOW: A Congress MLA drew the government's attention during the Vidhan Sabha session to the unsecured government websites quoting two different reports published in TOI which said Internet users from Pakistan had allegedly hacked the UP Tourism's and its related websites on the Taj and Fatehpur Sikri.

A BJP MLA quoted another TOI report which revealed how the UP Technical University (UPTU) website had been hacked for seven months while the university administration was not even aware of it. The members drew attention of the government after Minister of State for Information Technology SP Yadav in a written reply stated that no government website had been hacked.

Raising the issue through a supplementary question, Congress MLA Mukesh Srivastava quoted The Times of India report about hacking of three tourism websites by hackers from Pakistan. SP Yadav, however, quoted National Informatics Centre and said no website had been hacked.

In another supplementary, BJP MLA Dr Radha Mohan Das Agrawal said the same website of the NIC was hacked earlier too. He then quoted a TOI report and said UPTU website had been hacked and officials were not aware of the same.

He added that those who had hacked the site had been interviewed in the news report.

Replying to the issue, Yadav said UPTU is an autonomous body and the government doesn't have administrative control on it. But the government would look into the matter, he added.
