WebFilings changes name to Workiva [Ames Tribune, Iowa :: ]

(Ames Tribune (IA) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) July 01--Ames-based business reporting software company WebFilings has changed its name to keep pace with changes in the demand for its products, company officials announced today.

WebFilings, which has experienced steady growth since it was founded in 2008, is now Workiva. It now has more than 800 employees, including about 350 in Ames, and had more than 2,100 corporate customers, including more than 60 percent of the Fortune 500 and Fortune 100, the company said in a news release.

The company's Wdesk product platform helps companies collect, manage and report critical business data.

"To keep pace with our customers' needs and meet the growing demand for our solutions beyond SEC filings, it's time to change our name," said Matt Rizai, Workiva CEO, in a news release announcing the decision.

Although the name of the company is changing, "we're the same people delivering the same world-class customer service and vision for how Wdesk can streamline work throughout the enterprise," Rizai said.

The change of names is the latest development for the company, which last year announced a $78.2 million project to expand and add 700 jobs to its Ames operation in the Iowa State University Research Park.

The company began with just 30 employees when it was founded. It is based in Ames and Mountain View, Calif., and has offices in eight other U.S. cities as well as Canada, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands.

Workiva also has consistently won top honors under the WebFilings name at the Technology Association of Iowa's annual Prometheus Awards, having been named Software Company of the Year four times and Technology Company of the Year for three consecutive years.
